The city of Camas awarded a $499,326 contract to Clark and Sons Excavating, Inc., of Battle Ground, to start improvements on Northeast 15th Avenue.

The construction was expected to begin this week with work completed in mid-August.

Sections of Northeast 15th Avenue will be closed during the day for waterline work between June 28 and July 5. The roadway will reopen each night for usual traffic.

Residents are asked to avoid the work area if possible.

The city will have reduced parking available at Crown Park during the daytime hours.

The improvements include:

Replacing an existing 2-inch waterline with an 8-inch waterline, and installing new 1-inch copper water services to residences;

Installation of new curb ramps and limited sidewalks from Division Street to Northeast Everett Street;

Reconstruction of Northeast 15th Avenue from Division Street to Northeast Everett Street, excluding the diagonal parking areas along the north side of 15th Avenue that serve Crown Park; and

Installing an asphalt slurry seal to the parking area.

Funding for this project comes from the city’s Street Preservation, Water Repair and Replacement, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) budgets.
