The West Columbia Gorge Humane Society’s annual Hike on the Dike fundraiser is back.

This year’s in-person event is happening from 9 to 10:30 a.m. this Saturday, June 26, at the Washougal dog shelter (ADDRESS), with staggered groups of walkers — and their canine companions — walking along the Columbia River Dike Trail.

The event will also feature a DJ, raffles, a children’s scavenger hunt along the walking path, and merchandise for sale including WCGHS swag and pet accessories.

Fundraising for the Washougal area pet shelter will remain open through June 30.

As of Thursday, June 24, six teams with 77 participants had signed up for the fundraiser and 86 people had donated to help the animal shelter meet its 2021 goal of raising $20,000.

To register for the fundraiser and in-person walk, visit wcghs.akaraisin.com/ui/hod2021/pledge/registration/start. Registration onsite begins at 9 a.m. Walkers are asked to arrive between 9 and 10:30 a.m. and begin their walk on the dike after completing the onsite registration.

Those who want to help the animal shelter but cannot participate in the walk can still become a fundraiser.

Several local restaurants and bars will host a “Yappy Hour” following the fundraiser to help raise more money for WCGHS, including:
