A motocross rider died at the Washougal MX Park over the weekend after suffering fatal injuries from what authorities have called “a significant crash.”

Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit, responded to a crash at the Washougal motocross park on Saturday, Aug. 14.

“The exact details of the incident are unknown at this time other than the rider had a significant crash,” authorities reported, adding that the rider was participating in a scheduled race at the time of the crash.

“We are unsure if the rider had a medical episode prior to the crash,” Huffman said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to (their) family and friends. I would like to thank the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, East County Fire and Rescue, the Camas-Washougal Fire Department and our track medics, Jason and Jeremy.”
