The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is seeking more information about an assault that occurred Friday evening, July 2, at Lacamas Regional Park near Round Lake in Camas.
According to police, a woman was walking in the park alone when she heard a man calling to her. When she stopped, the man allegedly grabbed her and then attempted to move her off the main trail.
“The victim fought off the attacker and was able to flee and call 911,” the Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release.
Police say the woman was not physically injured in the attack.
The suspect, who fled in the opposite direction when the woman called for help, is described as a white male in his early 20s with a “small, slight build, brown shaggy hair and light, sparse facial hair.” He was reported to be wearing grey shorts, a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and black Nike “skater type” shoes.
Though officers from the Camas Police Department originally responded to the call, the area where the incident, which law enforcement officials have called an attempted kidnapping, took place in an area of unincorporated Clark County in the Clark County Sheriff’s Office’s jurisdiction.
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the Clark County Sheriff’s Office or the Camas Police Department.
